State Opera re-opening
After three years of reconstruction and 132 years since its first opening, the State Opera reopened on Sunday, 5 January 2020, with a spectacular evening entitled Transformations of the State Opera in Time (1888-2018). The special concert guided the audience through the famous history of four local opera companies. Starting in January, operas such as La Traviata, Madam Butterfly and the ballet performance of Timeless, will return to the State Opera’s boards. In May 2020, the National Theatre Ballet will premiere Sleeping Beauty by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. King Roger by Karol Szymanowski will also premiere in April.
